Visualizing Intimacy and Loss

A fusion of architecture and visual art, Douleur Exquise was born from the enduring friendship between Sophie Calle and Frank Gehry. Presented in Luxembourg, the European Cultural Capital of 2007, it united the creative forces of artist Sophie Calle with architects Frank Gehry and Edwin Chan.

As lead graphic designer, I shaped the identity and exhibition graphics, crafting a visual language that reflected the exhibition’s exploration of human intimacy, loneliness, and loss. Through meticulous art direction and design, I ensured that every element resonated with the profound emotional depth of this collaborative work.
